I don't think Lundy and Matthews knew about the dark passenger. Their dialogues where ambiguous on purpose to make you paranoid and feel like being hunted, as Dexter would have been.
Since the novels described dark passenger as supernatural. The rules are if you kill or witness murder, the dark passenger would comes at the person and attached to them. Both of lundy and Matthews definitely kill someone
I was exchange student in the 80s and was going to Florida... a friend sent me a cartoon of "How Germans see Florida"... it was drawn from the perspective on someone on the ground, looking into the sky... a doctor would check your pulse, a photographer would make a picture, your wife stood there crying... a police dog was sniffing at you and an ambulance was visible ... basically you were dead ... :D
24:38 fun fact, other Serial Killer that is suspected of 300+ murders in that zone, Pedro Alonso Lopez, also known as "El monstruo de los Andes" has been missing since being released in the '99. Also "La bestia de los andes" has died recently.
Dexter being autistic is so interesting. I definitely see the point. He has a routine with the kill rooms, his job is also part of a routine and so is the code. He also has a problem with overstimulation when he sees the room filled with blood in the Maria View Hotel during season 1, but also seeks out blood for stimulation when he has control over when he sees it. The way he judges crime scenes is very matriculate too. It certainly could make sense.
My ideal ending for Dexter was that he eventually gets caught and tried for the Bay Harbor Butcher murders, but the jury lets him go free through jury nullification.
I recently watched all of the Dexterverse for the first time without knowing anything except that he kills murderers. Most importantly no social media influence. I was surprised to see the the last couple of seasons were disliked and that especially the ending was hated. I thought the ending was great, it left room for more just in case. It either ended forever or came back later down the road. I have a feeling New Blood was already planned then, but time had to run it's course. Not sure what people really expected, things would eventually crumble around him and the human side of him would come into play. Also, great video!
People wanted Dexter to either get caught and pay for his sins or lead a good life that's been set up for him. Also the fact that he just disposes of Debra's body in the same waters that the other scum rots in? Very stupid. The whole season 8 was honestly very poorly done, especially the story with Hannah.
Tbh sociopaths can keep jobs there surgeons in the world today who are sociopaths and still doing their thing i remember a guy who diagnosed himself as sociopath by trying to diagnose a guy who is a sociopath to confirm it when comparing it to his own he realised he a sociopath too i believe he still doing his job now and has been for years. So it isn’t out of possibility for sociopath to keep a job and tbh some of them a lot better than us at it. Some jobs require manipulation etc
I have no idea where he's getting his definitions because Dexter is blatantly written as a sociopath. He brings up Sherlock who the direct quote about his mental state is "high functioning sociopath" but it's played as a joke so it's more likely Sherlock isn't a sociopath at all and just likes messing with Watson.
Quinn absolutely knew, but he also knew and always did what was best for him. Plus he was in love with Deb, i felt this the most in the finale. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Quinn picked up where Dexter left off😂
Of course the writers didn't necessarily intend any of this, but it's heavily convoluted because the line of psychopath and sociopath isn't very well defined. So much so that in the DSR-5 they aren't even defined as disorders anymore, all of it being under the ASPD umbrella. If you want to dive deeper into armchair diagnosing dexter I would highly recommend giving the relavent sections of the DSR a read, it's interesting
the point was to keep you asking is it nature or nurture. when dexter felt feelings he was shocked because Harry always told him it was impossible. there is no perfect picture of a killer which was Harrys foundational fault in him giving Dexter the calculated code. flashback episodes literally show it. Hollywood entertains.. real life diagnosis are moot.. yall so obsessed with forcing mental illness labels when the nuance was INTENTIONAL.. i see you're adept at googleling rather than cognitive thinking or the gems that are dvd commentary
@@mrheisenberg5780I just finished Dexter and I have to say… Amazing. I can’t believe how great that was. I now have a Dexter shaped void in my heart. Debra was my favorite character. Jennifer Carpenter was phenomenal in her portrayal of the character. Her walking in on Dexter in the church, shooting LaGuerta. She was so good. My rankings of seasons were 5,1,4,2,7,6,8.
My perfect ending for Dexter : he kills someone in his Dark defender outfit not from his desires but to save Harrison. Son forgives his father. Dexter understands that Dark Passenger is gone. He Won. Either he and Harrison disappear together or he is doing it alone. And only in small towns and villages can you hear the legends of the dark defender, a man who kills people who have escaped the law.
I want more Dexter but I can't understand why they are doing a trinity killer prequel. He's a fascinating character but not in a leading a show way like Dexter is.
Can we mention how suddenly past Season 4, Dexter lives in a universe where passwords don't exist and you can access anyone's computer without any cyber security?
Harry didn't leave Dexter and Deb per say he killed himself when he walked in on Dexter dismembering a pimp, Harry wasn't able to live with the "monster" he created.
I think Lundy knew and let it go for the sole purpose of the fact that he was the best hope he had against Trinity in the case that Harry's theory was right and some criminals were just beyond the flaws of the justice system. It makes the fact that Lundy came straight to Dexter entirely right off the jump when Trinity resurfaced.
dexter has aspd, i called it before i checked myself on google, not enough people know about the disorder so they’re just diagnosing him with the basics “psychopath”, “autism”. he definitely has psychopathic qualities, but you can have those without necessarily being a psychopath, brian on the other hand..
I’m gonna say this go back to one of the scenes with Camilla in original sin and she gives a hint that she knows something when he asks for one of the files for a kill
plastic bags are bought in 100s in the box and those clear plastic wrap he covers the room in is the same big sheets 10x10 or 20x20 around 25-50 per box
I feel like Hannah wasn’t killed by Harrison, I think she committed suicide, she had a lot of knowledge about poisons extracted naturally, I just think she couldn’t handle the “death” and felt like after a while of seeing Harrison start to pick up for himself and decided he was going to be “ok” on his own and thought it was “ok” to “let go”.
24 Hours; don’t think it was explicitly stated, but I’d doubt Dexter slept more than 3-4 hours a night. Some people with similar traits, don’t need as much sleep every night as others.
As someone with autism which draws a lot of parallels from dexters life i can attest to this as i only get 3 to 5 hours of sleep a night as i need to be doing things 24/7 whether its playing a game or working
I thought the scor to dexter sounded like the twilight score, then I saw Melissa Rosenberg (sp) and I knew she did the screen writing for twilight, maybe that's why I love them both
I really like the idea of Dexter being autistic. Before I realized I was autistic I thought that I had no emotion, but now I understand I have just a really weird way to process them. And while not every autistic person has a hyper fixation it's not outside the realm of possibility that Dexter has the hyperfixation of murder.. The way he talks about it as an itch or a yearning is very similar to how autistic people feel about their hyperfixation. The desire to talk about and share in it is very common and would emotionally erode someone if they couldn't such as in Dexter's case
I remember when Camilla was in her death bed, she said something like “I know” when Dexter hesitated towards killing her, leading me to believe she knew, although her giddiness makes me also believe she didn’t know, yet if you see Camilla in the scene where he asks where the files are before his mothers killing, she seems very serious, cold, almost emotionless, giving a bit more feeling towards the theory that she, just like Dexter, also “faked” or “pretended” some emotions or interactions, leading me to believe she might have just faked a few emotions to make Dexter not feel so alone or maybe even evade him from becoming unhinged based on anger, or in general because she truely loved him and maybe even agreed with what he did in a way, and just ignored the killing and loved him for his personality, because in my opinion, Camilla seemed like those type of ladies who had very controversial opinions when it came to strong stuff like killing guilty criminals, a lot of women where I’m from are very “fond” of the idea of linching criminals who go out and rob helpless, and they are usually the nicest and sweetest human beings you can mett
Michael C Hall was born to play Dexter, I can’t literally think of another actor for the role (maybe Jake Gyllenhaal, but I don’t think he could play a guy pretending to be an awkward geek lab, at least not as perfect as Hall). Now Patrick Gibson is fine, he plays the socially awkward part well, but he still lacks Hall’s charming presence
I haven't watched the whole of this as I comment but so far it has been really interesting. I found your channel with your Mysteries, Encounters and Alterative History videos. All fantastic. I watched Dexter and really liked it but it didn't have the rewatchability that some other shows have for me.
The visions of Harry being his dark passenger is something I thought as well. Or at least that sometimes it was Harry, and sometimes it was the dark passenger.
With regards to the spin-offs, I like them and I'm greatly looking forward to Dexter: Resurrection. Hope the producers do it justice and make it a good one.
I feel that if Dexter was autistic, it would have been addressed in the show. Also, I feel the 12 rules are like those of AA, since Dexter is addicted to murder. Just a thought 😉
Having worked drywall in the past ik the plstic he uses and its a giannroll that folds out and it can easily cover real big room just gotta tape it down and cut it to size
Dexter resurrection sounds like it's the endgame and i can't help but be excited Original Sin and New Blood were great and well made so I have no reason to think it will be bad
I absolutely loathe that Dexter is in a mental institution theory as well as the one that he's autistic and the one that it's all in his head. If the producers ever pull that it was always in his head crap or a long dream or that he's in a mental institution, I would absolutely resent and despise them for that and try to completely erase the whole franchise from my mind.
The plastic isn’t as much as you think at most 2 garbage bags for the plastic he uses I’m a painter and we use these plastic to cover everything and you’d be surprised how much you can fit in those giant black garbage bags

Im one of the people who cant get enough of the dexter shows ❤ Ive rewatched the original series so many times. Was heart broken when dexter died in new blood lol 😂but loving that hes still alive now and cant wait for resurrection ❤
I must say, the serial killer name "Trinity killer" is such a vibe, but I wouldn't actually want him to exist in real life.
Very true Sammi, very true..
Looking forward to the 28th time falling asleep listening to this and not finishing it all the way through even once.
I always felt like the captain and lundy knew ❤ omg so glad you brought that up!!
24:38
fun fact, other Serial Killer that is suspected of 300+ murders in that zone, Pedro Alonso Lopez, also known as "El monstruo de los Andes" has been missing since being released in the '99.
Also "La bestia de los andes" has died recently.
😅 this is indeed not a *fun* fact
@@OctopusWithNoFriends Data of Interest doesn't have the same ring to it.
Dexter gets all his plastic from Costco
34:26 but Saxon is actually Vogel's son who killed his brother... i think you got a bit confused there 😂
Thank you!!
So I didn't realize this video was uploaded 1 day ago.. I was just reminiscing Dexter and did a quick RUclips search and this came up. Thank you.
28:09 "8 simple rules for dating my teenage serial killer" 💀
How did you see that?? 👀
Fun Fact: The aquarium date was filmed at Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach!
Dexter being real would be kinda cool. I’d enjoy all the 5 hour long crime documentary videos
Have I seen Dexter? No. Do I like Connor's videos and need one to fall asleep to? Heck yeah
1. First two seasons of Dexter
2. Original Sin
3. New Blood
20:51 I can't believe he didn't believe in him
I recently watched all of the Dexterverse for the first time without knowing anything except that he kills murderers.
Harry saved thousands of lives by guiding Dexter
@ yeah he got anti personality disorder (sociopath) my little sister is one so I learnt all about it
Quinn absolutely knew, but he also knew and always did what was best for him. Plus he was in love with Deb, i felt this the most in the finale. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Quinn picked up where Dexter left off😂
I love how you give little remarks instead of just stating things
Thank you Brian!
I thought it was very cool that when Dexter borrowed Camilla’s boat in Dexter Original Sin, the boat’s name was Slice of Pie😁.
amazing timing i just finished Dexter and this got recommended
Was it your first watch?? What was your fav season?
@ yep!
@ fav season is s1 tbh nothing ever tops that pacing and storyline
@@mrheisenberg5780I just finished Dexter and I have to say… Amazing. I can’t believe how great that was. I now have a Dexter shaped void in my heart. Debra was my favorite character. Jennifer Carpenter was phenomenal in her portrayal of the character. Her walking in on Dexter in the church, shooting LaGuerta. She was so good.
My rankings of seasons were 5,1,4,2,7,6,8.
@@ameramangopie agreed! & the reveal about his brother makes the rest of the series even better
Tonight is the night, and I have a dexter video to watch.
He was called Jim in new blood 😂
My perfect ending for Dexter : he kills someone in his Dark defender outfit not from his desires but to save Harrison. Son forgives his father. Dexter understands that Dark Passenger is gone. He Won. Either he and Harrison disappear together or he is doing it alone. And only in small towns and villages can you hear the legends of the dark defender, a man who kills people who have escaped the law.
Ketamine is actually also an animal tranq, it was for horses !
Really good video man, some of these theories I didn't even know myself!
And there are no cameras, anywhere, at all.
I feel like most shows extend days past 24 hrs though. The amount of stuff most characters can do on top of jobs and other stuff is astonishing lol
Harry didn't leave Dexter and Deb per say he killed himself when he walked in on Dexter dismembering a pimp, Harry wasn't able to live with the "monster" he created.
I know, but he essentially chose to leave them by doing that.
I definitely believe Matthews new because he didn't tell no one who the ice truck killer was. So he was hiding Dexters connection why?
Dude got over 1800 years off of his sentence for showing the bodies?!
What the fuck.
Im pretty sure he went missing afterwards so one can hope someone took justice into their own hands😂
47:37 didn't he tell her before she died that he killed his brother and she said it was for the better or something like that
Yes, he did. She said “it’s good that you did”
She she 100% knew, maybe not everything, but she knew something
dexter has aspd, i called it before i checked myself on google, not enough people know about the disorder so they’re just diagnosing him with the basics “psychopath”, “autism”. he definitely has psychopathic qualities, but you can have those without necessarily being a psychopath, brian on the other hand..
In the book he definitely is.
You self diagnosed yourself on Google. Shut up
Yeah and psychopathology is something thats hard to even define and a lot of people just dont belive it to be a real condition
Saxon wasn’t Vogel’s patient, he’s her son
I think its funny it also sort of implied that the opening is just how he wakes up every day because when he is really tired he misses the musqito.
Agreed, he plays socially awkward, definitely creepy serial killer well, but not silly/charming like dexter. How about Nicholas Cage for the role?
@ I can see Nic Cage playing a more faithful Dexter adaptation, which is a more over the top in the books
I haven't watched the whole of this as I comment but so far it has been really interesting. I found your channel with your Mysteries, Encounters and Alterative History videos. All fantastic. I watched Dexter and really liked it but it didn't have the rewatchability that some other shows have for me.
Wow, I cant believe Connor was the Bay Harbour Butcher!
😮
The visions of Harry being his dark passenger is something I thought as well.
Or at least that sometimes it was Harry, and sometimes it was the dark passenger.
With regards to the spin-offs, I like them and I'm greatly looking forward to Dexter: Resurrection. Hope the producers do it justice and make it a good one.
Harry is not Dexter's stepfather, he is his adoptive father. There is a difference.
Gonna start watching New Blood tonight
50:30 that 24 hours made me burst 😂 fellow Dexter fan, I tip my hat to you 🎩
I don't give the later season writers enough credit to support the "Quinn Knew" or "Matthews Knew" theories
As a sociopath u can definitely hold a job and not all sociopaths don’t follow the same cut out traits
Dexter resurrection sounds like it's the endgame and i can't help but be excited
Original Sin and New Blood were great and well made so I have no reason to think it will be bad
i had no idea david guetta was so into Dexter
Ever think Dex takes money from the wallets of his victims to help pay for all that plastic?
I absolutely loathe that Dexter is in a mental institution theory as well as the one that he's autistic and the one that it's all in his head. If the producers ever pull that it was always in his head crap or a long dream or that he's in a mental institution, I would absolutely resent and despise them for that and try to completely erase the whole franchise from my mind.
If they ever pull that, I will consider it non-canon and disregard whatever they say.
The plastic isn’t as much as you think at most 2 garbage bags for the plastic he uses I’m a painter and we use these plastic to cover everything and you’d be surprised how much you can fit in those giant black garbage bags
Camilla says that she knew.
John Lithgough is in EVERYTHING! What wouldn’t the trinity killer have a number of families
He's so good!
Ok watched it all
Loved every second of your video ❤ thanks for making this!!!
he's a psychopath: psychopathy occurs due to external factors (his mother's death). Sociopathy occurs due to internal factors.
Thank you for making my day ❤
